For the past few years, all the medical/nursing care at Harvesters has been provided out of “His Merciful Hand” clinic, a small room located near the orphanage. Over recent months, patient numbers have increased and this space has become frustratingly small. Construction of His House of Hope has been progressing well though and the final fit outs are almost finished. March 12 2012 will be moving day – His House of Hope will be open for business!
The “His House of Hope” team is growing too. It is exciting to hear of the people that God is gathering to serve in His House of Hope. Dr Jeff Perry is the Medical Director of His House of Hope. He and his wife Elizabeth arrived in Yei (from Colorado) in July 2011 with their children. So far, two lab technicians and a nurse have been employed, with another five others in the pipeline. The real encouragement is that they are all African, most from South Sudan and the others from Uganda!
March 12 will be a day to celebrate! How exciting that God has provided a facility and is gathering a team to provide effective and culturally appropriate health care to the women and children of the Yei community!
Happy moving day guys. I hope and pray all goes well. God is good and awesome and we know He works for the good of those who love Him. I wish you every blessing for your time in Southern Sudan. After just spending 12 months in Tanzania with my husband and three kids I KNOW you will be a huge blessing to the people loving them just as Christ loved us simply by being there for them.
